May has already been a packed month, a month that came with many words.
Words for birthday blogs and a newsletter. Words for generative writing sessions—my own InkWell WordShop and an AWA Monthly Online Write. Words in the pulpit. Words on Zoom. Words in an art installation. Words between writers, now friends. And also, Mother’s Day words… and flowers.
A Spring of Words
In case you missed it, here’s a link to my pulpit moments. It arrives with imperfections (a blatant slide typo that none of us saw until the day of), and also with a resonant message for anyone who struggles when receiving advice from others and contemplating wise words in general. The service starts at about 10:30 minutes in.

And now I’m writing this from a conference room in Dallas during the Conference on Crimes Against Women, where my words are pinned to a board as part of the powerful What Were You Wearing? exhibit.
The writing circles—and the circles of writers—have become everything.
Here in Dallas, I’m meeting women I first wrote with on Zoom, women whose voices I knew long before I knew how their bodies move through space. We are anchoring those connections in real space now, nurturing friendships with stories, witness, laughter, vulnerability, and words.
Words that heal.
Words that connect.
Words that remind us we are not alone.
