I love my pen shadow.

It’s not a moon shadow. But that song pops in my head some mornings when I celebrate it.

It’s my pen, caught in the morning sunlight, making a shadow as I move the tip of it across the page.

It’s often one of the morning gratitudes that I write down… with the pen that makes the shadow.

Why do I receive a jolt of joy when I see it?

  • Because it’s morning.
  • Because I showed up to use my pen.
  • Because the clouds cleared so the sun could remind me, “You’re doing great. Just keep writing.”
  • Because I’m writing.

So, yes, I become giddy and the shadow of my pen shows up in my morning list of gratitudes.

What are your simple reminders that you’re doing great? How does the universe conspire with your routine to support you?

On many mornings, I have the sun, my pen, and a beautiful pen shadow.
